Sarfaraz Khan was born on October 22, 1997(present age of Sarfaraz Khan is 26) in Mumbai , Maharashtra. He is a right-handed batsman and a leg-break bowler who plays for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy and for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is known for his quirky and innovative batting style, which has earned him the nickname ‘Panda’.

Sarfaraz started playing cricket at the age of six, under the guidance of his father Naushad Khan, who is a former first-class cricketer and a renowned coach. He attended the Rizvi Springfield High School in Mumbai, where he broke several records in school cricket. He scored 439 runs in a Harris Shield match in 2009, which was then the highest individual score in school cricket. He also scored 211 runs in a Giles Shield match in 2010, and 155 runs in a Harris Shield final in 2012.

Sarfaraz made his first-class debut for Mumbai in 2014, at the age of 16. He scored 155 runs in his second match, against Madhya Pradesh, and became the youngest player to score a century for Mumbai. He also played for India in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2014 and 2016, where he impressed with his consistent performances. He was the second-highest run-scorer for India in the 2014 edition, with 211 runs in six matches. He was also the vice-captain of the Indian team that reached the final of the 2016 edition, where he scored 355 runs in six matches, including a century against Ireland.

Sarfaraz Khan IPL Carrier

Sarfaraz was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2015 IPL auction, for a price of 50 lakh rupees. He made his IPL debut in the same year, and played 13 matches for RCB, scoring 111 runs at a strike rate of 156.33. He also played for RCB in the 2016 and 2017 seasons, but missed the 2018 and 2019 seasons due to a knee injury. He was released by RCB in 2019, and was bought by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the 2020 IPL auction, for a price of 25 lakh rupees. He played seven matches for KXIP in the 2020 season, scoring 33 runs at a strike rate of 120. He was traded to Delhi Capitals in 2021, ahead of the 2022 IPL season.

Sarfaraz Khan International Debut

Sarfaraz made his international debut for India in the third Test against England in 2024, at the age of 26. He scored 62 runs off 66 balls in his first innings, hitting nine fours and one six. He was involved in a 97-run partnership with Ravindra Jadeja, but was run out after a mix-up with him. He also scored 18 runs in the second innings, as India won the match by 10 wickets and took a 2-1 lead in the four-match series.

Personal Life

Sarfaraz is married to Romana Zahoor, who is a fashion designer and a model. They tied the knot in 2023, in a private ceremony in Mumbai. They have a son named Zayn, who was born in 2024. His younger brother’s name is Musheer Khan, who also played first class cricket at present from Mumbai and India U-19s, Sarfaraz is very close to his family, and often shares pictures and videos of them on his social media accounts. He is also fond of animals, and has a pet dog named Leo.
