9. Snow Leopard Census – According to the first scientific calculation, Ladakh has the highest population of snow leopards. Ladakh (477), Uttarakhand (124), Himachal Pradesh (51), Arunachal Pradesh (36), Sikkim (21), and Jammu and Kashmir (9).

  • Snow Leopart listed in Schedule-I of the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972, the IUCN Red List of Endangered Species and Appendix-I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).

15. WHO has awarded its first-ever certificates validating progress in eliminating industrially produced trans fatty-acids to Denmark, Lithuania, Poland, Saudi Arabia and Thailand.

  • Trans Fatty Acids (TFA) are semi solids to solid fats that occur in two forms

(a) Industrially produced (iTFA) (b) Naturally occurring

  • iTFAs are created during the partial hydrogenation of vegetable oils to solidify them, making them ideal for use in processed foods.  Unlike naturally occurring transfats found in meat and dairy, iTFAs are considered harmful due to their specific chemical structure.

1. Corruption Perception Index 2023 – India ranked 93rd among 180 countries in Transparency International’s ‘Corruption Perception Index-2023’. CPI 2023 – Topped by Denmark, 2nd & 3rd Position – Finland & New Zealand

Government Scheme

Lakhpati Didi Scheme – Launched in Dec 2023. Aim – To financially empower women in rural areas and promote their entrepreneurial spirit. Target – 2 Crore woman entrepreneurs in villages but in interim budget of 2024 it increased upto 3 Crore.

LABHA Scheme – By Orrisa Govt for Purchasing Minor Forest Product. (Minor Forest Produce (MFP) is all non-timber forest produce of plant origin and includes bamboo, brushwood, stumps, canes, Tusser, cocoon, honey, waxes, Lac, tendu/kendu leaves, medicinal plants and herbs, roots, tuber and the like.)

3. Women’s singles – Belarus’s Aryna Sabalenka has won the Australian Open women’s singles title by defeated world number two Zheng Qianwen of China in the final. Aryana won her second Grand Slam title.

4. FIH HockeyNetherlands won the first edition of FIH Hockey 5s Women’s World Cup in Muscat, Oman by defeating India by 7-2 in the final.

5. R Praggnanandha became the only chess player to defeat the current world champions in Open and Women’s category by defeating defending and four-time women’s world champion Wenjun Xu of China

6. Snow leopard is the mascot of Khelo India Winter Games 2024 which held in Ladakh.
