National and International News.

1.  NASA launches ‘PACE mission‘ to study oceans and atmosphere through SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket to understand the complex climate change dynamics of the vast expanse of the oceans and Earth’s atmosphere.

2.  Cabinet approved “Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Saha-Yojana (PM- MKSSY)” with a budget of Rs 6 thousand crore for 4 years (FY 2023-24 to FY 2026). In all states/UTs for creation of National Fisheries Digital Platform to provide 40 lakh Small and Micro enterprises work based identities.

3.  NIMHANS honoured with ‘WHO Nelson Mandela Award‘ for health promotion. (NIMHANS- National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences). NIMHANS Director Dr. Pratima Murthy. ‘Nelson Mandela Award’ given by WHO and this award is starting from Year 2019.

4.  Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Bill 2024 passed by the by the both houses of parliament to amend the existing Prevention and Control of Pollution Act 1974.  The Bill imposes a fine ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15 lakh for violation of provisions related to discharge of polluting substances into water bodies.

6.  CAR T-Cell Cancer Therapy approved in India. CAR- Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell. It is a type of immunotherapy that uses the patient own immune system to fight against cancer. This therapy also called ‘Living Drug’.

7.  The 200th birth anniversary of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati (born on 12 Feb 1824) was celebrated on 12 February. He is a spirituality and social reformer and founder of Arya samaj in 1875 in Bombay. He also wrote a famous book Satyarth Prakash, Veda Bhashya, Rigvedaadi, Bhashya-Bhumika and Sanskar Vidhi.

9.  First meeting of Global Biodiversity Framework Fund held in USA. It is in purpose of implementing Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

11.  Supreme Court declared the electoral bond scheme unconstitutional under the violation of Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution.
